Annie walked into the nursery, holding Katie's hand tightly. The room was dark, the lights weren't on, nor was the TV or computer. No one was even in the room as she had previously thought. She was certain that Katie would be a bit anxious over it all.
"I'm sure they just went to get something to eat or back to bed. The storm is dying down after all," Annie said, trying to comfort her sister once more. She closed the door behind them and switched on the light as the room brightened. But one thing concerned her.
Acting as casual as possible, she went over to the large seat-window. It was open. Open in the rain? And yet the seat itself was not wet. She looked out but saw no one. So she went back to Katie and left the window wide open so that some fresh air could come in.

Katie entered the Nursery, still holding her older sister Annie's hand. She noticed that non of her other siblings were in the room. This contributed to her fear. A little voice in the back of her head told her to grow up and get a grip. You're thirteen for goodness sake! it told her. She tried to swallow her fears as she went deeper into the room.
She plopped herself down in front of the TV, even though it wasn't on. Katelyn focused on it, trying not to be afraid. She did not notice that Annie went over to the window. Katie did not even know that the window was open at all.
"What should we do now?" she asked, trying not to sound frightened. She eyed the movies next to the television. Those sounded good, especially since they could drown out the storm outside.

Annie looked out the window quickly once more and then sat down by Katie. "What do you wanna do?" she inquired friendily. "Anything you want, but no scary movies and no late-night talk shows," she told her sister. It was serious, but she laughed like it was a joke. She knew that Katie would want to do either of those things, but their mother insisted that Annie remind the younger kids whenever a TV was in front of them.

Katie gave a weak smile to her elder sister, trying to seem less scared. She would never watch scary movies if she was already scared, but she thought some of her brothers might. But Katelyn had a bit more sense then that.
She knew that if the storm got worse (or returned, whatever the case maybe) and she was watching TV the power might go out. And even though she was old enough to understand, Katie would still freak out and get scared. So watching the TV at all was not something she felt like doing just then.
"Umm.." the small one began, casting her eyes around the nursery, seeing what they had to play with. "How about we play a game," she suggested, spotting the stack near the wall.
